About
My research has been focusing primarily on the impact of international law on Italian family law: on this general topic I wrote a book (Il diritto italiano della famiglia alla prova delle fonti internazionali, Giuffrè, Milano, 2006, pp.XIII-336 ISBN 8814126658). Specifically, my work has been dedicated mainly to the implementation and enforcement of the European Convention on Human Rights, the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (“The Impact of the UNCRC on the Italian Legal System”, in The International Journal of Children's Rights, Volume 17, n. 1, 2009, pp. 155-170). I have also been working on the Europeanisation of family law (“The Impact and Application of the Brussels II bis Regulation in the Member States: Italy”, in Brussels II bis: Its Impact and Application in the Member States edited by K. Boele-Woelki, C. Gonzales Beilfuss, Intersentia, Antwerpen-Oxford, 2007, pp.167-183; “Ciudadanía” and “Derechos fundamentales”, in E. Arroyo, G. A. Benacchio, B. Pasa, R.Viñas (coord.), Repertorio de derecho civil y mercantil comunitario. Con legislación, jurisprudencia, doctrina y notas de concordancia con el Derecho español, Bosch, Barcelona, 2005, pp.91-103 and pp.431-532).
I am interested in private international law and I have been investigating the recognition in Western European countries of the Islamic foster care “kafalah”.
I am presently researching on care obligations set by law and by private arrangements to provide support for the elderly in Italy, France, Spain and United Kingdom.
